Hamilton man racked up $436K in debt pretending to be lawyer

A Hamilton man pleaded guilty Thursday in federal court to lying to banks about being a lawyer in order to get credit, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Grady Calhoun, 35, pleaded guilty to three counts of bank fraud before U.S. District Court Judge Timothy Black.

Prosecutors said Calhoun owes about $436,000 to Chase Bank and Barclays after he lied about his income and stated he was a partner and president of law firm.

In actuality, the law firm was created by Calhoun, who is not a licensed attorney, but a paralegal employed at a different firm, according to court documents.
