GOP lawmakers booed for gutting a bill creating 'independent' commission to draw Pennsylvania's.maps

Before a packed, jeering audience, a Republican-led state House panel on Wednesday gutted a bill that would have created an independent commission to draw Pennsylvania’s congressional and legislative maps.

The change, spearheaded by Rep. Daryl Metcalfe, R-Butler, would keep mapmaking power with lawmakers appointed from within the Legislature It would strip the state Supreme Court and governor of their respective authority over the maps’ approvals — powers that led the Supreme Court to toss the congressional map this year and draw up its own.

Every rethug on the state government voted for this and it was passed without debate or comment allowed. It sprung on the committee at 1050am and voted on by 11am. These gop bastards are fascists.
