Fight over Dr. Oz's Turkish citizenship is latest twist in Pennsylvania Senate race

Celebrity surgeon and Republican U.S. Senate candidate Dr. Mehmet Oz said that he will renounce his Turkish citizenship if elected.

“My dual citizenship has become a distraction in this campaign,” Oz said in a statement to Yahoo News and other outlets late Wednesday. “I maintained it to care for my ailing mother, but after several weeks of discussions with my family, I’m committing that before I am sworn in as the next U.S. Senator for Pennsylvania I will only be a U.S. citizen.”

Oz is running for the GOP nomination for Pennsylvania’s open Senate seat. The race is shaping up to be one of the most expensive and important in the country this year.

His promise to surrender his Turkish passport came after a local outlet, PoliticsPA, reported earlier this week that Oz would forgo security clearances if necessary in order to maintain his dual citizenship with Turkey.

That is true, but maybe he'll commit to turning his NJ home over to his Congressman, Bill Pascrell.

His whole schtick is to scare people about things that might cause cancer or scare you in to buying things might solve your belly fat issues.

His name should be Dr. Fraud.

My hope is that he is their nominee and the Dem's nominee mops the floor with him.

Most Pennsylvanians know who Fetterman is and like how he fought to stop the Trumpies from stealing the state. Voters can see Fetterman is authentic. The establishment beefing up a congressman only known in his district through ads and dramatic music is clearly inauthentic. Lamb's ads so far a eye roll-y

Six years ago, we went through the same thing with Katy McGinty foisted on us by the Dem establishment. Her campaign snatched defeat from the jaws of victory with a terrible strategy apparently designed not to offend anyone. I see Lamb's campaign making a similar mistake.
