Corbett still fighting Republican legislators on restoring some funding cuts

http://policypathwayspa.blogspot.com/2012/06/house-and-senate-republicans-agree-to.html

The Republican legilislative leadership is holding meetings with Corbett to try to convince him to use existing unforseen state revenues to reduce the severity of some of his budget cuts. In particular, the legislators believe that public colleges suffered enough cuts last year and shouldn't be expected to suffer another severe round of cuts. The legislators also are effectively seeking to avoid the $100 million additional cut to public school funding that Corbett proposed this year, beyond the almost one billion dollar cut of last year.

The legislators also want to reduce the amount of the human service cuts.

Corbett is still resisting them. He wants to put all of the surplus into a rainy day fund. Hey, Tom, its raining right now!

Not a single Democrat is being allowed in the room. They will probably get to see the budget for the first time a few hours before they are told to vote on it.
