Now Corbett has pissed off the last friends he has left - Catholic Bishops

http://pittsburgh.cbslocal.com/2014/07/18/gov-corbett-says-health-a-main-concern-with-immigration/

Corbett went on radio station KDKA where he was asked about the Central American children being temporarily housed at children's homes in PA, including the Catholic Holy Family Institute.

Corbett said:

“Obviously, Holy Family with the nuns there you know is a good place to take care of children,” he continued. “But that’s an imposition not only to the neighborhood but the state. What dollars are going to pay for this? Is it the Medicaid dollars that are needed for the people of Pennsylvania already which are very short? Again how are we going to pay for all these services? So we have grave concerns and again the Obama administration hasn’t even picked up the phone to say this is what we’re going to do can you help us?”

The Catholic bishop for the Pittsburgh area quickly responded to Corbett:

“Holy Family Institute, a ministry of the Sisters of the Holy Family, will be providing temporary humanitarian aid to children from Central America. The children, who are all under the age of 12, will be temporarily sheltered at Holy Family Institute.

“You probably recall that Holy Family Institute performed a similar ministry for many Haitian children after the devastating earthquake in that country. This is exactly the same kind of humanitarian response.

“The children will not remain in Pittsburgh but will be placed with relatives or other sponsors nationwide.

“There have been questions as to why Catholics are involved. The Catholic Church responds to humanitarian crises here at home and all across the world because we are pro-life. Being pro-life requires we protect and care for vulnerable persons from conception to natural death. It has been reported that some of these children are fleeing violence. The current law requires that they receive a hearing to determine if in fact they are refugees fleeing grave danger.

“Whether they are traveling because of poverty, or violence, or with the hope of reuniting with relatives on the other side of the border, followers of Jesus are called to protect these children and help them because they are very vulnerable and defenseless against any abuse or misfortune.

“At the same time we respect the rule of law and the right of nations to have secure borders. Ultimately, the root causes of why people are fleeing their homelands must be addressed by the international community.” - CBS Pittsburgh, 7/18/14

Bastard! So concerned for those poor people on Medicaid all of a sudden---and all the money taken out of their pockets to care for children from another country. Even though no one has asked him for Medicaid money yet.

The next thing that grabbed my attention was how he blamed Obama for not calling him to offer help.....like Obama has nothing else to do. And like Obama should have any desire to help him without being specifically asked. Who should be calling whom?

How people can claim to be both pro-life and a Christian and not believe in the above two quotes? I read recently on DU that a high percentage of republicans believe Jesus would be against the ACA. How being republican and being religious ever got linked together is beyond belief!

A web ad just showed on this post by Corbett's campaign, to attack Tom Wolf. I think they need to adjust the targeting of their web advertising a little.
