Republican Congressman: 'We Have to Get Our Act Together'

Reps. Dave Brat, R-Va., and Charlie Dent, R-Pa., may sit on the same side of the aisle in the U.S. House of Representatives, but when it comes to the challenges facing today's Republican party, they couldn't be further apart.

The congressmen appeared together on NBC's "Meet The Press," where they had a candid discussion about the differences between the dueling wings of the party.

Brat belongs to the GOP's Freedom Caucus and came to prominence after defeating then-House Majority Leader Eric Cantor in a primary election, while Dent is a moderate Republican who hails from a Pennsylvania swing district.

You know, thinking about what actually helps all your constituents for a change, and just not the noisy nutters and the few who can give you big bucks.

Charlie Dent is not a moderate. Though he may not be a tea-bagger level reactionary, his record and ratings demonstrate this:
Dent voted in favor of Paul Ryan's extremist budget plan.
- Voted against the Affordable Health Care Act
- Voted against the Employee Free Choice Act
- Voted NO on redeploying US troops out of Iraq.
- Voted YES - no exit date.
- Voted against the America Jobs and Closing Tax Loopholes Act.
Dent's scorecard ratings by organizations:
- themiddleclass.org gives Dent zero rating (website details votes).
- League of Conservation Voters - 23% /100.
- Sierra Club - 0%
- NRA - 92%
- John Birch Society - 78%
- Humane Society - 38%
- AFL-CIO - 10%
Rep. Dent has run unopposed the last two elections. The Lehigh Valley isn't the "swing" district it's reported to be. It was recently gerrymandered. Though the Lehigh Valley went for Obama (barely), the LV media is solidly Republican and many of the state reps are Republican.

I can barely stomach the Morning Call (except Bill White), Express Times, or WFMZ anymore. Such one-sided "journalism".
(I'm not far from Nazareth and Martin Guitar).
