Joe Sestak sent out an email today claiming that $4.2 million is being spent to attack him.
The Democratic Senate Campaign Committee is spending large amounts of money on pro-McGinty TV ads. Donations to the Democratic Party should not be spent in a primary, but should be saved for the general election - especially when the Dem nominee will probably be outspent by far by Toomey and his minions.
In any case, Sestak is facing some extremely negative ads by other groups that are clearly untrue.
I much rather would rather see money spent on TV ads showing which candidate is more effective at attacking Toomey and the Republican Congress.
The PA. Republican Party was burned a couple years ago when they spent many hundreds of thousands of dollars of party money running attack TV ads against a tea party Republican candidate for State Senate - "the millionaire trashman." It backfired and he won by a landslide.
UPDATE: DailyKos Post says $1.1 of this money propping up McGinty is coming from the US Democratic Senate Campaign Committee.

(12,322 posts)Always liked Sestak, thought McGinty was impressive in the Gubernatorial campaign in '14, curious about Fetterman.
As the Primary season has moved along, Sestak has earned our votes. He has a consistent, positive message and is sincere. McGinty, on the other hand, just seems out of her element and doesn't look or sound confident. Fetterman has given has great answers in the debates, but doesn't have enough gravitas or support to defeat Toomey.
It is offensive that Democratic money is being spent to defeat Sestak. As Jim Burn says, we can't get that money back.
Ugh.

(6,819 posts)I saw no evidence that McGinty was even running until the TV ad barrage started. Sestak has never stopped campaigning for 7 straight years.
