Autopsy finds Lafayette College student died from head injury

A Lafayette College student who died Monday after being found unconscious outside a campus dormitory died of a head injury, according to the Lehigh County coroners office.
McCrae Williams, a freshman from Weston, Mass., who was recruited to play lacrosse at the Easton college, was found outside Ruef Hall North on Sunday afternoon, police said. He died the next day at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest.
Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim said in a news release Wednesday that Williams suffered blunt force head injuries. Grim said he would not rule on the manner of Williams death until toxicology tests are completed and police have finished their investigation.

Lafayette public safety officers found Williams when they responded to a medical emergency about 4:17 p.m. Sunday at Ruef Hall, the four-story dormitory where he lived. He was taken to Easton Hospital and transferred to LVH, where he was pronounced dead at 5:02 p.m. Monday. ... Easton police detectives were called to investigate Williams death late Monday morning, according to Lt. Matthew Gerould. The investigation, police have said, will include whether alcohol played a role.
