An Arnold woman has more than 55 years to repay the $200,000 she admitted to stealing from the Pittsburgh legal office where she worked.

Dawn Heuser, 46, pleaded guilty Monday to siphoning money from accounts and credit cards at Greystone Legal Associates in Pittsburgh's South Side neighborhood.

Allegheny County Judge Philip Ignelzi sentenced Heuser to 10 years of probation and ordered her to repay the $200,000 at a rate of $300 a month.

At that rate, it will take Heuser more than 55 1?2 years to pay back the full amount. She will be more than 101 years old.

She knew his marriage was on the rocks. While she didn't have sex with him, she dedicated many hours of her company, listening to him just talk. Next thing, she was using his company credit card to go to Atlantic City. A lot.

Because of his trust/naivety, he discovered he didn't have the money for his house closing and his trust account was wiped out, the latter threatening disbarment. (That's clients' money.) His law school friend lent him the money to replace the trust account.

I lent him $20,000 to keep the firm open.

On top of that, his own partner embezzled $50,000 (by not turning over the money). She died before the money was noticed to be missing.

The secretary was charged. She's paying something like $300 a month, never went to jail.

The lawyer died last month, broke. Matter of fact, his family had to pay for the service, funeral, burial, etc. And he still owes $36,000.

And no, the other lawyer and I won't likely see our money paid back.

Don't think that the money won't be missed. As you can see, it had quite a ripple effect.

Article says the “investigation uncovered $329,595.98 in missing cash and about $310,000 in misused funds.” Over $640k stolen or misused funds results in probation and $300 per month payments? Can I get a deal like that?
