Big business groups urged lawmakers Monday to get a move on and send voters a road-funding measure they claimed is vital to continued growth of Texas economy.
The need for additional money is as clear as can be, said Bill Hammond, president of the Texas Association of Business, the states premier business lobby.

Hammond said state inaction on roads and water supplies has begun to harm economic development efforts.
We know that other states
are using this against us: Dont go to Texas. They dont have water and they dont have roads, he said.

(650 posts)The article went on and on about drought, fracking and farming drains on the aquifers without once mentioning lawns.
Water for lawns drains eighteen (18) times more water from Texas' water supplies than does fracking, but you never hear a word about it.

(29,414 posts)yet it makes sense. And it's another reason we need to push people to go organic in their lawn-care. Deep, rich soil needs less watering and yet creates a healthier, greener lawn.
Alternatively, go for native grasses if your city/HOA will allow it. And if it doesn't, educate them!

I watered my meadow for a total of five hours last year, mainly because I would have too much to drink and just up and did it. John installed seasonal grasses and I have color for twelve months a year. It is a thing of beauty and is on most of the limo wine tours. I wish I knew how to send you a pic of it. I am quite the dumbass when it comes to anything regarding this machine.
Our town has a 'Cash for Grass' program. I never cashed the check.
