At the Alamo, Protesters Get Up in Arms

You can only imagine what unwitting tourists visiting the Alamo on Saturday must have thought.

There were hundreds of Second Amendment enthusiasts gathered at San Antonio’s Alamo Plaza, many carrying loaded rifles and assault weapons to the public square. They stood before one of the most revered sites in Texas to protest what they see as unconstitutional curbs on displaying weapons in public.

The highest-profile speakers at the event were current land commissioner and lieutenant governor candidate Jerry Patterson, who carries a handgun in his boot, and conspiracy purveyor Alex Jones, an assault rifle on his back. Patterson and Jones reflected the inherent tension between the two camps at the rally: gun-owners who struck a more conciliatory tone and emphasized personal responsibility mingled with fringe elements who expressed a more profound anger at the government, and hinted at a dark future.

Patterson has waged his campaign primarily on the strength of his gun-rights credentials — he authored the state’s concealed carry law in 1995. But the surreal nature of Saturday’s event allowed Patterson to play something of a moderate. He asked the protestors not to carry their guns inside the Alamo’s walls, and he urged the crowd to respect the San Antonio police officers.

I understand what you mean.

Boy, it sure is quite a statement that we might just call a guy with a gun in his boot...in Texas..in front of the Alamo... a moderate.
Yikes ! That IS scary...

Hello,

My name is Kory D Watkins. I am a son of god, defender of the Constitution, husband and father of two wonderful children. I also am the creator of Champions of the Constitution, & Just started a group called Clean up Mansfield. I homeschool both of my children and it's truly a blessing to get to teach them the finer things in life, the word of god, respect and peace as well as a great education. It is my duty to obey and protect the Constitution at all cost, it is my duty to get involved in what's going on in our Country, it is my duty to make sure voices within the community are herd. I firmly belive we must be involved to protect our Liberty and Freedom, or evil and big government will prevail.

I am running for Precinct Chair this year in Precinct 2360. My goal is to meet as many people as possibly, get those people registered as Republicans and get them involved in the Republican Party. I also plan on making sure the voices within our precinct are herd and those questions, comments and concerns can work their way up the rankings to State Representatives, US House Representives, and so on. Finally, I will hold our local officals accoutable for their voting records. Please support me in 2014 for Precinct Chairman in 2360.

My friend from Kory Watkins from Mansfield, Texas is running for Congress in Texas Congressional District 6.

Support Kory and his run for Congress in Texas CD6 against 30 year incumbent, Joe Barton who has voted for NDAA twice, CISPA, banker bail outs, and farm bills for Monsanto.
