Stanford jurors say they can’t reach verdict on some counts

Jurors in the R. Allen Stanford fraud case told a federal judge Monday afternoon that they have been unable to reach a unanimous verdict on each of the 14 counts against him.

They did not say how many or which of the counts of fraud, conspiracy and obstruction are causing the difficulty, or whether they have reached verdicts on some counts.

U.S. District Judge David Hittner told the jurors to keep deliberating, giving them this instruction after conferring with defense and prosecution lawyers:

Members of the Jury:

I’m going to ask that you continue your deliberations in an effort to reach agreement upon a verdict and dispose of this case; and I have a few additional comments I would like for you to consider as you do so.
