Abbott under fire for hosting Nugent — a rocker with a history of young girls

Democrats and women’s groups assailed GOP gubernatorial candidate Greg Abbott’s choice of Ted Nugent to appear with him at Tuesday events, citing the rocker’s abusive name-calling and early penchant for relationships with under-aged girls.

Abbott’s campaign said the attorney general might not agree with some of Nugent’s language, but praised the so-called Motor City Madman as an avid defender of the U.S. Constitution. The campaign did not comment regarding Nugent’s inappropriate affairs from 30 years ago.

As attorney general, Abbott has touted his office’s Internet Crimes Against Children division that works with law enforcement to identify predators who go on-line seeking young women. Calling it his cyber-crimes unit, Abbott frequently mentions its efforts to arrest those who would solicit minors.

In a 1998 documentary on VH1 “Behind the Music,” Nugent admitted to affairs with several under-aged girls. “I was addicted to girls. It was hopeless. It was beautiful,” he said.

He also said he had worked to charm their parents and get them on board with the relationships.

“I got the stamp of approval of their parents,” Nugent said on the video. “I guess they figured better Ted Nugent than some drug-infested punk in high school.”

Annie's List Calls on Greg Abbott to Cancel Events with Anti-Woman Ted Nugent

Statement from Grace Garcia:

"Ted Nugent's comments against women are despicable. Much of what he has said is so repulsive I can't even repeat it. It's reprehensible that Greg Abbot is now publicly accepting support from this person.

"Greg Abbott should denounce Ted Nugent who so freely attacks women and cancel the events they have scheduled together. Otherwise, his claims to fight for women will continue to ring hollow.

"Nugent has used terms to describe female political leaders such as 'brain-dead soulless idiot,' 'varmints,' 'fat pigs,' 'dirty whores,' 'worthless bitch' and more that I do not care to repeat. It's hate speech, plain and simple.

"Greg Abbott has claimed he fights for women, but he can't have it both ways. It's a lie to make that claim and then turn around and accept the support of someone so outspokenly anti-woman like Ted Nugent."

and tiny around them.....he is attracted to underage women because they are the only ones of the species human he feels powerful with. They are the only ones he could find naive enough to believe a low life scumbucket like Ted Nugent has "skillz". What a pathetic loser!

Some of what he's said and done, and his lyrics about women and girls, have been posted here and they are the lowest of the low

And pornographic. And we know they don't approve of that. Or do they?

And it's not like Nugent has cleared up his act any, or repented or given his heart to Jesus or anyhing like that...

Call 'em all out, the ones who claim to be for children and support Abbott. Stop the hate and hypocrisy.

about the misogynist stench coming from Nugent -- as long as he can count on that coveted NRA endorsement that many GOP politicians pay dearly for, one way or another.

6. What exactly would Nuge have to say

in order for Republicans NOT to want to campaign with him?

I'll hazard a guess: "I was completely wrong all this time about everything, and I now support President Obama".

7. A Thought Experiment: Gregg Abbott, Ted Nugent, and Right Wing-Nutz
Tue Feb 18, 2014, 11:28 AM
Feb 2014

Let's run a thought experiment. Let's pretend for a moment that Gregg Abbott was a Jim Hightower-type Texas liberal and that Ted Nugent was campaigning for him.

Would the right-wingnutz remain silent about Ted Nugent's sexual escapades with minors?

I think we all know the answer.

Would the right-wingnutz be howling for this alternate-universe liberal Gregg Abbott's head for cavorting with underage girls?

To paraphrase the Wasilla Diva (From whom we haven't heard yet): YOU BETCHA!

Whatever moral turpitude, in today's Tea-publican Party, IOKALAYAR applies even more strongly than it did in the days of Buckaroo Bush!
