(38,002 posts)Sigh. I was hoping for Maxey Scherr but at least Kesha Rogers isn't anywhere near winning.
Ms. Davis is cleaning up.
That poseur, Kinky Friedman, is getting enough votes to maybe force Jim Hogan into a runoff...

(23,278 posts)I loved Maxey, but voted for David. He is the only candidate that can pull moderate Republicans. How the Hell did Kesha Rodgers get enough votes to run against Alameel?

(38,002 posts)Dan Patrick is beating David Dewhurst in the GOP Lieutenant Gov primary by a lotta votes. Not quite 50% for Patrick but getting there.

(9,120 posts)It's very early in the game (8:23 CST), but it looks like David Dewhurst is going to lose in the GOP primary.
I would think that Dewhurst's loss would be a clue to GOP moderates that their party is now firmly in the grip of the Tea Party, but Texas Republican moderates' powers of denial are far, far stronger than mine ever were (That's why I shook the dust of the Elephant Party from my sandals over twenty years ago and became a partisan for Team Donkey).
To me, Dewhurst's loss confirms a conclusion I've had forced on me a couple of electoral cycles ago: it doesn't matter how moderate they pretend to be, a Texas Republican is a reactionary Republican, no matter what moderate rhetoric they use to bamboozle the unwary.

(9,120 posts)Who would have thunk it? I expected the Lubbock R's to show a big round of support for the most reactionary candidate on their primary ballot.

(9,120 posts)An era is ending, although I have slightly more sympathy for Ralph than I do for most party-jumpers. I wonder how many opportunistic, double-crossing Dixiecrats are still in office?

(38,002 posts)I really really don't want Almeel wasting money and time on a runoff against Rogers but, well, winning TX US Senate is such a longshot.
Friedman just chaps my ass.
TexasTowelie
(112,252 posts)None of the ballots cast today have been counted. That might give Maxey Scherr a chance to overtake Rogers.

(38,002 posts)Texas Observer has decided that Friedman and Hogan will be in a runoff, grumble, grumble...

(112,252 posts)Cameron and Collin are also slow in reporting.

(112,252 posts)It's also too early to tell since Dallas county is still out, but it looks like Veasey is holding over Mark Sanchez despite all the money that the Sanchez campaign spent on advertising.

(112,252 posts)Sen. Glenn Hegar is at 49.99% and the provisional ballots may determine whether or not he enters into a runoff with Rep. Harvey Hilderbran.
