MURRAY, Ky. (AP) When Texas Gov. Rick Perry comes to Kentucky, people like to remind him of Jim Bowie, the Kentucky native who died at the Alamo during the Texas Revolution.
"Jim Bowie was willing to give up everything for freedom," Perry told a crowd of about 300 Republicans at the Lincoln Reagan Dinner of West Kentucky on Saturday. "I hope there are a new generation of young men and women that are willing to give up everything, if you will, to change this state. To put Kentucky on a track that will make it competitive again."
One thing Perry does not want to change: Kentucky's senior U.S. senator. Perry endorsed Sen. Mitch McConnell, telling the crowd that the Senate minority leader would win re-election.
"I love the number six," Perry said. "Sam Houston was 6 foot 6 inches tall. And Mitch McConnell is going to be in his sixth term as United States senator."

Six is also Governor Perry's IQ and the highest number he can count to. Can't you feel the love?

Crockett disobeyed the orders of General Sam Houston and was forced to die at the Alamo.
The dinner crowd must have been laughing all the way home.
