Paxton’s status with football team raises ethics report questions
State Sen. Ken Paxton is listed as a co-owner of an Allen arena football team, has served as its general counsel and personally helped introduced the revamped squad to Collin County.
But the McKinney Republican asked to explain why he had not disclosed his ownership status to the Texas Ethics Commission as required under state law said he had never received his shares in the franchise, known as the Texas Revolution.
The teams chief executive confirmed that Friday, but only hours after a team vice president told The Dallas Morning News that Paxton was an original shareholder.
The exchange shows confusion over investment holdings by Paxton, the leading GOP contender for attorney general. He has already had to revise personal finance disclosures to the state, and on Friday, his campaign announced that Paxton had paid a fine over his failure to register with a state board while soliciting clients for a financial services firm.
