Obama coming to Dallas and Austin for 2-day fund-raising trip

WASHINGTON – President Obama will make a two-day trip to Texas next month, a White House aide said Friday. He’ll visit Dallas and Austin to raise money for Democrats.

On July 9, Obama will start in Denver with a morning fundraiser to benefit the party’s Senate campaign arm. He’ll be joined by Colorado Sens. Michael Bennet, chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, and Mark Udall, who is up for reelection this year.

Then he’ll come to Dallas for a fund-raiser at the home of Dallas lawyer Marc Stanley, as reported a month ago. That event will benefit the party’s U.S. House campaign arm.

Obama then travels to Austin, according to the White House, where he’ll stay overnight.

a word or two about Wendy or at least fundraising for the Governor of Texas for the Democratic Party, but nothing. Just House and general DNC. I am sad about that.

Taking money out of Texas to spend elsewhere in Congressional races. A sadder part is that this -- this twenty years of using Texas as their ATM -- is a large part of why Texas isn't already blue.

But the saddest part? These rich Texans writing these fat checks are convinced that Texas is a lost cause for their money. It's a similar mentality as Democrats voting in the Republican primary because they believe that's the only way their influence makes a difference.

The reason why the TDP had to charge 20 bucks for the public to listen to Wendy Davis last night in Dallas is because these folks won't give any money to the TDP. Because they think it's a waste. And this mentality will not be rethought until a Democrat wins a statewide office.

It's a self-fulfilling prophecy.

And given the way things are going, I don't intend on doing so, any time soon.

unless you're capable of writing them 15 and 30 thousand dollar checks, they couldn't care any less.
