A 5-year-old boy in Texas is in critical condition after he reportedly shot himself in the face with a shotgun while hunting with his 11-year-old brother.
A Harris County resident who identified himself to KHOU has Mr. Fred recalled that the 11-year-old drove to his house in a panic on Friday afternoon.
I was sitting on the porch, car comes flying in here, Mr. Fred explained. He said his brother shot himself.
According to Mr. Fred, the 11-year-old boy had laid the gun down after the two boys had been out hunting. But the 5-year-old boy later went back to retrieve the gun.

(7,672 posts)3. 11 year olds cannot drive, cannot hunt, cannot handle a firearm.
Double plus for the five year old.
Send them both far away to a new family that cares about them, and throw their sperm and egg donors in prison.

(28,264 posts)4. And once again I will say it:
The present-day gun culture has reduced firearms to the status of mere toys, rather than the serious objects which they in fact are. This sort of careless, puerile attitude accounts for boys ages 11 and 5 on unsupervised hunts, just as it explains 9 year-old girls wielding Uzi machineguns, middle-aged men playing soldier with military-styled semi-autos, and mass shootings no longer surviving a 24-hour news cycle because they happen so often.
And the 11 year-old drove his wounded brother? Jesus wept: did these kids even have parents?
