Alameel Calls for an Uprising in the Democratic Party

I just received this in an email. Honestly, I know very little about this candidate, so I am posting without comment.

http://alameelforsenate.com/news/alameel-calls-uprising-democratic-party

When I first announced that I was interested in running for the U. S. Senate, our Party Headquarters in Austin flat out told me not to run.

And if that was not offensive enough, they offered me a deal: that if I gave them a really big donation, like half a million dollars, then they would in effect bless my candidacy across Texas.

When I refused, they decided to use all of their relationships against me and supported my opposition in the Primary, forcing our campaign to waste millions of dollars in unnecessary cost.

<snip>

We’re going to rebuild our party, starting at the local Precinct level with the help of County chairs, and instead of wasting money on Battle Ground Texas, we should raise money for County-Chairs directly to help us build our grass-root support across Texas.

Judging by the results, he probably should have listened to them.

If the party wants results they should be investing in supporting and growing local party strength and grooming candidates. In addition build a communication base that can inform people on issues that affect them and how they can be addressed.
I experienced this first hand when I moved back home after 15 years. I grew up in a strongly union and Democratic county in your typical rust belt state. The general mindset was the typical faux snooze talking point and there was no Democratic party presence until a few weeks before an election. Those local political clubs that existed weren't much more than social clubs.

The money the national party spends on one national race in one election cycle could probably fund local party infrastructure for all those neglected areas that lose elections regularly.

I don't think or present the idea as some silver bullet solution but there is something to be said for people seeing their presence and interests being supported and promoted.

How many times have you heard "I'll only support candidates that support me, screw the party!" ? To me, that shows the heat of the problem. There are great potential candidates out there who just never get support. Then there are those party leadership types and professional consultants who get paid large even when they have a losing record.

It's time to stop working for the next election cycle and work toward the goals that the party is supposed to represent.

Solution, however the folks there are all politically interested mostly professional folks. In my county there are some fantastic people that could easily seek and probably win in even state wide elections.

We just can't continue thinking the people we have currently are getting it done. They are wholly owned by corporate America. Also their campaign contributors. Gone are the days we elect altruistic people seeking office to make a better place for all of us.
We've got to try different approaches to bring up some new people. There is no time to waste.

was because of his previous contributions to Republican candidates (including to his opponent Cornyn in a previous election). There were also issues regarding sexual harassment made by women who worked at his chain of dental clinics which indicated that he wasn't responsive to their concerns. While Alameel was not personally implicated he never stood much of a chance against Cornyn. I believe that he drew the smallest percentage of votes of any of the statewide Democratic candidates which can be related to all of the factors mentioned above along with a surname that sounds Islamic.

If it were not for his deep pockets he would have never been considered in the primary race.

Just like Howard Dean's 50 state strategy, the Texas Dems should launch a 254 county strategy.

just a thought.

otherwise the repubs will claim "Texas 254" as their center piece.

on edit: I just wrote to the Texas Democratic Party with the idea. Let's see if anyone is listening.

they want our money to pay for their cushy jobs. But win? Pfft, then they'd actually have to work.
