Teen faces 9 counts of murder after Palmview rollover

PALMVIEW — A 15-year-old boy told police smugglers threatened to murder his family if he refused to drive a van stuffed with immigrants last week.

Now, the teen faces murder charges himself.

A juvenile judge formally charged the boy with nine counts of murder in juvenile court after police said he caused a violent wreck that left half the people aboard dead.

The teen also faces 17 counts of human smuggling causing serious bodily injury or death and one count of evading arrest with a vehicle.
