SALADO Izzy the kangaroo is back at her warm home after spending two nights in the cold Central Texas woods after escaping her cage.
Louise Whitaker said she had just put Izzy in a new cage in front of her house in Salado on Wednesday and left for a couple hours before returning to find the cage door open and Izzy gone.
For the next two days and nights, the animal was spotted in the woods around Salado but hopped away whenever approached. Whitaker says Izzy has been an indoor pet, and she feared for the kangaroos well-being because of the recent cold and sleet.
Finally, about 7 p.m. Friday, someone spotted Izzy in woods near home and called Whitaker, who came running. She arrived, and Izzy came running to her.

This story makes me wonder if she should hopped north along I-35 to Austin College in Sherman where she could become the team mascot. I'm certain that she could have cleared the potholes along the freeway in Dallas that occurred because of the winter storms.
