It's especially stupid to joke about it on DU because all too many (like myself) will assume you're being serious about it and react appropriately. I would also add that it brings out all of the Texas-haters, and we end up in fights when we should be working together, as fellow Liberals.

Any time some idiot is quoted for the secession of Texas, or shown as in the case of the agent with the bumpersticker, the haters come out in favor of this stupid idea, as if it could really work. Never mind that it would crash the economy of the entire nation with the elimination of their second-largest economy...

I have to wonder how they react to the conservatives in their states? Would they be just fine with outsiders telling them to leave the state so the conservatives could take over? I think not. So why is it okay to suggest the same to us?
