I am in Houston, so I am willing to help set it up if there is interest.

(145,321 posts)My youngest and I are both delegates and will be interested in attending. I attended a DU meetup a long time ago with PDiddie.

(18,063 posts)This is always fun. This year with the wacky convention schedule, it may be shorter than most of them are. Good opportunity to socialize. Even though I am an alternate delegate, I won't be attending.
Hope you all have a great time!

(18,063 posts)I do hope that our Texas DUers will manage to meet up. It's always nice to meet in person.
I've met some great friends and amazing people through this board!

(145,321 posts)I may invite Susan Bankston who does the Juanita Jean blog to our meeting up. She is a very funny person and she just drafted me for another job at the convention.

(3,440 posts)It is a nice bar/restaurant a block or two from the Hilton.
Thursday night is probably the best time to do it - it will conflict with Sen. West's event, and partially with the Labor event, but there aren't a lot of open times, unless we want to venture into doing a midday Friday meetup.
Another alternative3 is to find a section of one of the Hilton Americas bars and do it there. The benefit with that is that it is easier on folks who have mobility issues.
Let me know.

(30,252 posts)The only DUers I remember running into at Corpus Christi in 2010 were Jeff Weems and WolverineDG. I missed the rest of you guys.

(17,291 posts)I'm not arriving until Friday. But we can use the secret handshake to identify ourselves on the convention floor.

(145,321 posts)I just got an e-mail from one of our SDEC members advising me of an event that my conflict with the DU meetup. Three state senators and several labor unions are having a reception from 7:30 PM to 11 on Thursday. I fear that Susan Bankston (Juanita Jean) may be going to the that event. I will check with Susan in the morning about her plans.

(8,322 posts)I can make it if it's Thursday. Friday is supposed to be the Blogger's caucus, but no plans announced yet.

I want to go this year.
Gothmog
(145,321 posts)The first reception is Thursday and the Convention itself is Friday and Saturday

(3,440 posts)Since so many folks wanted to go to the labor/elected representatives event on Thursday night (at the CWA Hall on Jefferson), let's just meet upo there and maybe drift somewhere else if we are so inclined. It starts at 7:30, so I'll plan on being there at 8. I'll have a sign or something for us to gravitate toward. I know a few of you, but that would help.

(30,252 posts)I'll be driving down from D/FW on Thursday, and I'd rather not show up at CWA only to find all the DUers gone.

(145,321 posts)Susan Bankston will try to attend. She is booked tightly in that she is running for DNC delegate and will be at the Disability Caucus at 1 PM on Friday. If anyone does not make the Thursday night meet up, Susan and I will be at the disability caucus meeting on Friday.

(8,322 posts)DVO, RBVO, Ted McL. (jobsanger), Neil Aquino (Texas Liberal) and me (Brains and Eggs) are assembling at a location still to be finalized but probably within walking distance to Hilton Americas and the GRB... that is not already hosting an event. Because Rachel likely needs to press some flesh at the labor event, figure the VOs won't arrive before 8:30-9-ish, since the labor thing starts at 7:30.
Who's in on a caucus starting around 7, with food and drink available and a guest list including the above?
