San Antonio mayor fails to disclose bail bonds income

Though she’s derived income from Marshall Bail Bonds company, Mayor Ivy Taylor has never disclosed it on annual financial filings submitted to the city.

Taylor acknowledged Monday that she should have listed the bail bonds company as a source of income on the annual Personal Financial Statement filings that she’s been required to submit annually under both state and city law since 2009, when she first joined the City Council. The mayor said she would correct the public documents.

“It’s just an oversight. It should have been listed, but we had a misunderstanding of what needed to be listed,” she said. “So it was just an oversight… We’ll amend the reports.”

Appointed mayor last summer, Taylor is facing 13 others vying for the mayoral seat, including former state Sen. Leticia Van de Putte, former state Rep. Mike Villarreal and former Bexar County Commissioner Tommy Adkisson. Saturday’s election is expected to go to a June runoff.

Opposing campaign officials criticized Taylor, citing a lack of transparency.
