Oil barons got everything they paid for this session.

(12,213 posts)When crap like that happens, I picture the conservatives and corporate heads just laughing it off.
Hell, it wasn't their homes that were affected. And they'll get their losses back one way or another.

(3,236 posts)the real estate investment, their homesteads and /or landowners, I think is going to be important here in reforming these laws. Because money is all that matters now. Is there insurance for this shit?

(28,264 posts)....and that they got a huge bonus payment from whatever oil company leased their land. Because it looks like their planting and cattle operations are screwed, for a long time to come. Damned shame.

Since what goes up, must come down, the petroleum gases and fluids rained down on the area coating everything with a slick oily residue.
Its been a rough time, Schulz said, describing the experience. It really has.
An Encana employee knocked on the door of the Schulz home, which is about three quarters of a mile from the wellsite, and let them know that there had been a blowout at the well up on a nearby hill, Schulz said. The man advised them to stay indoors.
Five minutes later, the sheriff called and wanted to know if we were okay, he said.
Just after he hung up the phone, there was a pounding at his door.
It was two firemen with breathing apparatus on, telling us we had to get out of the house, he said. We grabbed the dog, and grabbed the phone... the odor outside our house was pretty strong.
The couple and their dog walked with the firefighters to the fire truck and they all rode in the firetruck toward Kenedy.
We actually drove, in the fire truck, through this raining, gunk, residue... They all referred to it as residue, he said. It wouldnt clear off the windshield. It was like an oily substance.
The fire truck then met up with an EMS ambulance for a check of their health.
Schulz said he and his wife both experienced burning and irritated eyes, and a tightness in their throats, as well as a burning and itching sensation on their skin.

Of course the TRC will ignore the whole damn thing, especially with a freakin Bush running it.
