Storm gets name; flooding expected

CORPUS CHRISTI - A tropical depression turned cyclone was named Bill by the National Weather Service’s Hurricane Center late Monday.

After a “hurricane hunter” aircraft investigated the depression in the Gulf of Mexico, a tropical storm warning was issued about 9 p.m., John Metz with the National Weather Service said.

The cyclone is predicted to make landfall Tuesday around or shortly after sunrise along the state’s mid coast, between Freeport and Corpus Christi, according to the National Weather Service website.

Rainfall totals are expected to be between 3 inches to 6 inches and as much as 10 inches of rain are expected in isolated northeastern parts of the Coastal Bend, Metz said.

Plenty of cat food around too, but I was drenched in sweat by the time I made it back here. No breeze, 100% humidity and beginning to mist. Ugh!

I'm also charging up my extra phone batteries as a precaution but without the WiFi the Internet service is terrible on the cell phone.

It is like a sauna outside right now. Hot, humid and no breeze.

I will be on the wet side. It does not look like it will intensify but the ground is already saturated and it will not take much to generate some flooding

.. and I've been through many storms and hurricanes.

I think I'll stay holed up here for the next two days
and pray it doesn't flood and that the drainage will
keep working.

I also hope the power doesn't go out.

There is flooding in Sealy and areas to the west of Houston. Houston has just downgraded their alert. I got rain at my house but not enough to cause any problems

Austin rain hasn't been too bad either, thank goodness.

I guess we dodged a bullet this time.

I'm sorry for the areas that took the brunt, though.

is that you usually have plenty of warning. I will say, it was pretty nutty at the grocery store. There were some people with nothing but baskets full of bottled water.
