Amarillo ISD administrator transfers prompt continuity questions

Amarillo Independent School District leaders will transfer 20 administrators, mostly principals, to different positions in the fall in an effort to improve their leadership skills. But some parents worry their children’s educations lose continuity during the annual shuffle.

Jennifer Cantrell’s son and stepson just finished fifth grade at Coronado Elementary School, where the boys had two principals since coming to the school six years ago.

Next school year, Coronado will have another new principal as Randalyn Huyck moves to Avondale Elementary.

“We feel like we try to instill in our kids stability and consistency, and every couple of years they change principals,” Cantrell said.
