Cheers!: Texas officials formally approve alcohol sales for 2015 at Darrell K Royal Stadium

Cheers, Longhorns fans.

University of Texas officials have gotten all the necessary approvals to serve beer and wine at football games this fall at Royal-Memorial Stadium, the school announced Wednesday afternoon.

Texas athletic director Steve Patterson pushed to get alcohol sales approved last season, but then-UT Chancellor Francisco Cigarroa nixed the idea, saying more study on safety protocols was required.

“Fan safety and enjoyment remains our number one priority as we work through the process of expanding beer and wine sales into all seating areas of the stadium,” Patterson said in a statement. “During our extensive pilot, we found fans and staff handled the situation responsibly and we had no negative issues or situations. We will continue to monitor the service closely.”

in favor of Pepsi. However, Pepsi does realize the long ties that Waco has with Dr. Pepper so they are going to make some arrangement to allow them to remain on campus and at the new stadium.
