Addison pizzeria owner ordered to pay $21.4 million to sexual assault victim

The owner of a popular Addison pizza shop has been ordered by a Texas judge to pay $21.4 million to an 18-year-old waitress he admitted he sexually attacked in an Addison hotel in 2011.

Dallas District Judge Carl Ginsberg ruled late Thursday that Arjedin "Danny" Deari, the owner of Pastazios Pizza, to pay a teenager, who is identified in court papers only as Jane Doe, the $21.4 million because the sexual assault caused the young woman to suffer severe emotional and physical anguish and gave her herpes.

Deari admitted to the allegations last August when he entered a plea agreement with prosecutors called a judicial stipulation. As part of the deal, Deari admitted to aggravated assault, but was able to avoid jail time. He was ordered to pay a $2,000 criminal fine.

Because Deari confessed under oath in the criminal case to sexually assaulting the victim, the only legal issue in the civil case was to decide the amount of monetary damages the woman deserved.

but her attorneys can probably execute a binding payment plan in lieu of having liens placed on him and the business that would interfere with the ability to have access to credit.

I expect that this publicity will also drive away the visitors to his restaurant now that they know he is a rapist. In some ways it might be better for taxpayers to not have to support this piece of trash while he sits in a prison.

He will also have this felony on his record even though it won't count as a conviction and will be marked as deferred. I doubt that he will be able to retain a liquor license for his business with the felony on his record.
