Juarez man tries to sneak 2.4 pounds of meth across Texas-Mexico border in his Air Jordans
U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents at the El Paso port of entry seized 2.4 pounds of methamphetamine last week concealed in shoes worn by a pedestrian crosser, according to a news release.
Carlos Fierro, 51, of Ciudad Juarez, was arrested July 2 around 3 p.m. after a CBP agent at the Paso Del Norte port entry noticed Fierro's shoes, which appear to be Air Jordans, were bulky, the release said.
"Attention to detail demonstrated by CBP officers led to this seizure," said Beverly Good, CBP El Paso Port Director.
Agents escorted Fierro to an inspection area and asked him to remove his sneakers, at which point he told the officer that he was carrying an unknown type of contraband in the sneakers, the release said.
