Group wants Confederate monument out of Travis Park

SAN ANTONIO - A local civil and human rights group is calling for the removal of a Confederate statue in a downtown San Antonio park.
The statue pays homage to the Confederate dead and stands prominently in the center of Travis Park, which the citys website says served as a camp for Confederate soldiers. But in the wake of the Charleston shooting, this is the latest Confederate marker to be called for removal.
Around a dozen members of the San Antonio Coalition for Civil and Human Rights met at the base of the monument Saturday morning.
