Space City Comic Con coming to NRG Center this weekend

This weekend Houston’s comic book lovers and sci-fi devotees will descend upon NRG Center for the three-day Space City Con, an annual convention featuring dozens of guests from across the fantasy universe.

The most notable guest is Captain James T. Kirk himself, William Shatner. The "Star Trek" hero is making his first appearance in Houston since he brought his one-man stage show to Jones Hall in 2012.

Younger, less-hip folks may know him from the "Priceline" ads though.

Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill, both of recent "Doctor Who," fame are also slated to appear. Superhero movie fans may know Gillan better as the villainous Nebula from last year's "Guardians of the Galaxy" flick, co-starring alongside Chris Pratt and Lee Pace.

The convention is also celebrating the 20th anniversary of the "Star Trek: Voyager" series with guests from the show's run including Kate Mulgrew, Robert Beltran, Robert Picardo, Tim Russ, Manu Intiraymi, and Ethan Phillips.
