Update: Jailed Plano neurosurgeon’s father testifies for prosecution (Duntsch case)
The former Plano neurosurgeon accused of killing or maiming several patients appeared in court Friday morning to try to reduce his bond and be freed from jail.
Christopher Duntsch, 44, has been jailed on $601,500 bond since July 21 when he was arrested on five counts of aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury and a count of injuring a child, elderly or disabled person.
Prosecutors argue that Duntschs bond should remain high because he could flee Dallas or harm others while free. They also say he could try to apply again for a medical license. Prior to his arrest, Duntsch was living with his parents and grandparents in Denver, Colo., his father testified on behalf of the prosecution.
Michelle Shughart, a prosecutor, asked if Duntsch was trying to get his medical license reinstated.
