Gov. Greg Abbott: America deteriorating because Christians aren’t voting

Gov. Greg Abbott said in an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network this week that America will continue to deteriorate if Christians and their pastors don’t get to the polls and vote.

“Religious liberty from the Bible and the issues that Christians believe in have become hostile in the mainstream politics, and there is one key reason for it,” Abbott told the Network’s chief political correspondent David Brody. “And that’s because the people who attend these congregations or pastor these congregations do not turn out and vote and we are dealing with the consequences by the failure of Christians to go vote.”

Abbott spoke on Monday to a group of pastors gathered in Austin for a two-day political training seminar hosted by the American Renewal Project. Brody was also a speaker at the event, and other media outlets were excluded. GOP presidential candidate and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee also addressed the group, whose aim to get pastors to run for political office.

On its web site, the Texas Renewal Project reports that more than 13,000 pastors have attended the group’s training events since 2005. Founder David Lane told the New York Times in March that his goal was to get 1,000 pastors to run for public office.

As a Jew, I found this offensive and I have forwarded this article to the Muslim precinct chairs in my county

of Church and State. Abbott and Cruz are trying to get pastors to go against Separation. Christian women believe in equal rights, to include, birth control pills for every woman. Jesus loves all women. He helped them, according to the Holy Bible. They remained with Him during his crucifixion and retained and prepared His body for burial.

As Komen Loses Leaders, Donations to Planned Parenthood Skyrocket
The Atlantic By Adam Clark Estes

After the Komen Foundation kicked off a controversy by withdrawing its funding from Planned Parenthood, Michael Bloomberg has announced that he'll be donating up to $250,000 towards breast cancer screenings.

According to The New York Times, Bloomberg "would give Planned Parenthood Federation of America a $250,000 matching gift — he will donate $1 for every new dollar Planned Parenthood raises up to $250,000." Before withdrawing funding, the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation had been giving Planned Parenthood $700,000 a year.

Update (4:15 p.m.): Funnily enough, it's not taken anytime at all for Planned Parenthood to make up for the funds that the Komen Foundation won't be giving them. "In the 24 hours since Komen announced its decision, Planned Parenthood has gotten $650,000 in donations, nearly enough to offset the losses from Komen’s funding," says The Daily Beast. "The group raised $250,000 from its newly launched Breast Health Emergency Fund, which it created to make sure affiliates would still be funded even after the Komen decision -- and it raised an additional $400,000 from 6,000 online donors as of Wednesday night."

Let the Patient and Protection Affordable Care Act take over caring for women. GOP thinking: Shift the blame to ACA, President Obama's Executive Order about abortion funding and the subsequent Congressional Law backing up that Executive Order about federal funding of abortions.
