Family reunion in a few weeks in Galvez. Already performed a great deal of reconnaissance.

I'd be surprised if any Texas conventioneers have time to do that, however.

as we watch safely from the ground, without having the share the freeways with you

By the way, Native Houstonians don't refer to it as "Bush" airport, but simply as Intercontinental. So does the FAA (IAH = Intercontinental Airport, Houston.)

It's also sad that even though we're all fellow Texans here, there remains plenty of "disdain" for certain parts of the state. Some is continuing rivalry between cities (Houston/Dallas ) and some can appear to be a kind of superiority formed for whatever reasons that theirs is the best place evah!

It's the people that make an area, and you'll find every flavor no matter where you go. You just have to be open to see them. Shrug off those preconceived notions!

Also a Mediterranean cafe some friends of mine run called Zabak's Mediterranean Cafe and they serve the best falafel in town! They're located in the strip center on the SW corner of Fountain View and Westheimer

Oh, also the best margaritas in town are had at Pico's Mex-Mex in Bellaire, not to mention great Mexican food, such as the Chilies en Nogata

A very cool and laid back ice house type bar. The clientele is a mixed bag of codgers, med center intellectuals and varying degrees of general nutcases and loons; the atmosphere is great! Address:

2803 White Oak Dr (near the intersection with Studewood)
Houston, TX 77007
Neighborhood: The Heights

As soon as the Houston skyline was visible, I slipped a Ritualz CD into the player and turned up the bass. Very nice.

then Goode Company Barbecue needs to be on your list. On Kirby just south of 59, or on I-10 just east of Campbell. Try the ribs and the Austin Baked Beans.

And if you have juvenile sensibilities like me, check out the Farting Wall at Rice University.
