Thats how Sen. Ted Cruzs position in Washington has been characterized this week. His popularity within the clubby U.S. Senate, already not great, dropped to new lows. Friction with Sen. John Cornyn usually shielded from public view by both Texans surfaced on the Senate floor, reflecting frustrations on both sides.

To me, the best analogy is if everybody on a football team wants to call their own plays, and when they dont like the play the quarterback calls, they decide to sack their [own] quarterback. Thats not a way to win. And thats not a way to successfully promote our goals, Cornyn said.
