In Houston, Clinton running mate Tim Kaine sees Texas turning blue — eventually

HOUSTON — Hillary Clinton's running mate, Tim Kaine, swung through Texas on Friday, part of an effort by Democrats to establish campaign infrastructure and raise funds in the Lone Star State in the last weeks of the election.

The U.S. senator from Virginia spoke to an excited crowd of about 400 supporters in Houston. Harris County is a Democratic stronghold, a fact only bolstered by a poll released Friday morning that showed Clinton leading Republican foe Donald Trump here by 10 points.

But Kaine promised those gathered Friday morning at the Communications Workers of America Local Union 6662 that the rest of Texas, just like his home state, would soon turn blue.
