Fort Worth man broke into Texas Capitol, damaged governor's portrait, officials say

A Fort Worth man broke into the second floor of the Texas Capitol and damaged a portrait of a former governor early Sunday in Austin, officials say.

Tanner Christian Graeber, 22, is facing one count of burglary of a building and one count of criminal mischief.

Graeber was spotted by a Texas Department of Public Safety trooper around 3:30 a.m. as he entered a temporary walkway in place while the Capitol undergoes renovations, according to KXAN-TV.

The trooper said he saw Graeber climb scaffolding outside the Capitol, break a window on the second floor and enter the building.
