Dallas pastor Robert Jeffress' debate analysis: 'Trump redeemed himself'

Dallas pastor Robert Jeffress of First Baptist Church shared his take on Donald Trump's debate performance.

"I think Donald Trump redeemed himself politically last night," Jeffress said Monday evening on Fox Business' Lou Dobbs Tonight. "He did exactly what he needed to do. He apologized for his comments and quickly pivoted."

The praise was not exactly surprising from the pastor, who has been a vocal Trump supporter for months. He is a member of Trump's faith advisory council and has appeared with the Republican nominee during campaign stops in Dallas and Fort Worth.

Over the weekend, Republicans across the country condemned Trump's language in his 2005 conversation with Billy Bush, then a reporter at Access Hollywood. In the conversation, which was originally reported by The Washington Post, Trump brags about pursuing a married woman and says he doesn't "even wait" before kissing women he finds beautiful. "When you're a star, they let you do it," he says.

upright, honorable, righteous men endowed by the Almighty with the gift of discernment between the upright and Godly and those given over to amorality, corruption, greed, lies, and selfishness. Robert Jeffress and his sort taught me otherwise.
