Prosecutors recommend probation for Waco woman who admits selling drugged-up teen as sex slave

Prosecutors have recommended probation for a Waco woman who helped sell a 15-year-old runaway as a sex slave.

Lisa Suzanne Owens, 53, pleaded guilty Monday to charges of promotion of prostitution, the Waco Tribune-Herald reports. She originally faced a more serious charge of human trafficking.

Owens, who reportedly has health problems, will be sentenced in six weeks by Judge Ralph Strother. On Monday, he expressed his reservations about the state's plea deal with Owens.

"Knowing what I do about this case," Strother said, "I'm wondering about this offer."
