IRVING -- Abdel Elhassan knows that many Irving voters will assume that he's running for a seat on the city council as a way to somehow get back at the city for what happened to his nephew Ahmed Mohamed, two years ago.
Mohamed, then 14, made international headlines when he was arrested after a homemade clock he took to MacArthur High School was mistaken by officials for a bomb. Charges against the youth, who later picked up the nickname, "Clock Boy," were never filed.

"What happened to Ahmed was something that was not easy for the family, and for me as well," Elhassan said. "But this has nothing to do with Ahmed's case. I'm here for everybody."
