Wichita Falls man armed with BB guns holds police at bay
A male holed up in a house brought out the Wichita Falls Police SWAT team Sunday night.
According to a WFPD spokesman:
Police were called to the parking lot of a restaurant on Holliday Street where a woman told them she and other family members had wrestled a BB gun away from her son. Officers went with the woman to a home in the 2100 block of Princeton Avenue.
They discovered the suspect was holed up in a closet in a rear bedroom of the home with a BB gun. He told police he would shoot himself if they tried to get him. The SWAT team was called and negotiators talked to him for about an hour but could not persuade him to come out.
At one point, more than 20 police units were on the scene. Finally the SWAT team went in and brought the suspect out. He was taken to a hospital for what police called "medical reasons."
