For many at Mega March, Dallas immigration rally isn't just political -- it's personal

Karily García, a Hispanic teacher in Arlington, has a driver’s license and a green card, but on Sunday, fear kept her from driving to the Mega March.

Instead, she let Courtney Dean, a white, redheaded teacher with light-green eyes, take the wheel.

Despite fears that her own dark hair and brown eyes could make her a target, García said there was no way she wouldn’t be marching in the downtown Dallas rally for immigration rights. She wanted to be a voice for others who because of their legal status were too afraid to attend, including many of her students.

In February, García experienced the worst moment of her three-year teaching career.
