Hundreds of protesters and counter-demonstrators gathered at the Texas Capitol on Saturday over the perceived spread of Islamic law known as Sharia.
Similar marches and protests were taking place in several cities across the United States on Saturday, including Dallas, New York, Seattle and Atlanta.

The group organizing the rallies across the nation, ACT for America, claims Sharia "is incompatible with Western democracy and the freedoms it affords."
