Court kicks Dallas judge off Democratic ballot as another fights to regain her spot

A court ruling Friday kicked one Democratic judge off the March primary ballot as another's legal battle to get back in the election swung back and forth.

State District Judge Staci Williams is no longer on the ballot after a successful challenge Friday by her opponent, trial attorney Mike Lee, and the Dallas County GOP.

Lee most likely will take the bench in the 101st District Court in January. It is unclear whether Williams is asking for the decision to be re-examined. She could not be reached for comment.

In the other election filing dispute, State District Judge Teresa Hawthorne appeared to have won back her spot on the ballot in court Friday after the Dallas County Democratic Party rejected her because of an error in her election filing.
