House backs abortion bill after heated debate bogs down Legislature

Progress at the Capitol came to an abrupt halt Friday as the Texas House got bogged down in a sometimes heated debate over banning cities and counties from doing business with Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers and their affiliates.

As proposed amendments and time-consuming points of order piled up, the tensions spilled over into the Senate, which was voting out House bills in the closing days of the session.

Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, who presides over the Senate, halted voting in the afternoon, saying that if the House was going to spend hours on one bill — putting in jeopardy a long list of Senate bills that must receive House approval by Tuesday — then the Senate would halt action on House bills as well.

“If that’s a game plan, we’ll just stand at ease until they get going,” said Patrick, who eventually sent senators home around 7 p.m.

1. Have you ever been pregnant?
2. Have you ever been raped?
3. Have you ever been the victim of incest?
4. Have you ever been told that your fetus has a condition that is not compatible with life?
5. Do you support state mandated premeditated murder? You might possibly call this "the death penalty."
6. Do you support free pre-natal health care for pregnant women?
7. Do you support free or inexpensive day care for the children of working mothers?
8. Do you believe men should be held accountable to support the children they father?

I'm sure there are a few other questions, but those are a start at least.

I don't understand the push to ban abortion that is occurring. There are a lot of young male Republicans that are going to be on the hook to pay for these babies for another 18 years. One of my acquaintances didn't stop paying for his child until 23.

Even the sainted Steve Jobs did that. He claimed he was sterile when his girlfriend got pregnant, and it was years before he admitted fatherhood and responsibility. The fucker.
