Anti-mask protesters holding demonstration in downtown Austin Saturday

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Anti-mask protesters gathered for a “Shed the Mask, Don the Flag” demonstration in downtown Austin Saturday.

The protest took place in front of the Governor’s Mansion starting at 10 a.m. Organizers encouraged people to meet at the H-E-B on Ed Bluestein Blvd. ahead of time, so the group could drive into downtown Austin and flood the streets with traffic, creating a “lock-in.”

According to the event’s Facebook page, Texas gun rights groups were due to provide security at the protest.

The event details read in part, “Our freedoms are being hit hard from so many angles right now, and this protest is going to bring to light TRUTH about COVID-19, why a virus or really NOTHING is ever an acceptable reason to take away your rights, and what YOU can do to combat unconstitutional orders taking place in your local government!”

The trumpers are and hopefully they are the only ones to pay the price, not smart people who would never do this, but do have to work.

4. My take is let them die. I'm fed up with their bull shit. Take adequate protection for yourself

from the carriers ... and let the others die. It is pointless trying to convince them to take adequate protection.

But many/most don't die or even get sick I suspect,
therefore reinforcing their beliefs and likely ensuring attendance at future CovidFests.

Sometimes it feels as though we are doomed.

Tell us how that “protest is going to bring to light TRUTH about COVID-19.”

What was that “TRUTH”?

And ”According to the event’s Facebook page, Texas gun rights groups were due to provide security.”

Why? From whom? Don’t you have police in Texas? Can’t Texans peaceably assemble any more?

Do they really think that all the sickness and death in this country - and the world - is some made up "hoax??" You'd think they'd want the "freedom" to remain alive.

Do they really think that the entire planet is in on this "hoax??" And we're seeing this bizarre mindset everywhere and it's spreading almost as fast as the virus. It really boggles the mind.

I've lived there twice in the past and it was always a very liberal and educated city.

I think this is a mass extinction movement that will cull the lower end of the gene pool.

Just worried that it will take out medical personnel as collateral damage. My sister is a nurse. I worry for her. She shouldn't have to risk her life for these idiots.

the moron powers that be, opened early to take advantage of the holidays and I predicted back then, that there will be massive spikes mid june and mid july because of the holidays.

the next one will hit around the week of the 20th.

I'm no prognosticator, I'm just a guy who knows stupid well. And I live in Texas, so I have more than enough qualifications to know stupid very well.

I'm stupid. I'm detail-oriented, a former state employee, and 55 years old so I think that I hold similar qualifications to know the stupid.
