Selena's family threatens lawsuit over MAGA event at her statue in downtown Corpus Christi
Joe Michael Perez, who put a Trump MAGA hat on Corpus Christi's Selena statue, faces legal action from the songstress' family for allegedly using her image for profit.
Perez announced on his Facebook page on July 1 he would be organizing a Trump assembly at the statue that immortalizes the slain Tejano singer at 2 p.m. on July 11. The event encourages supporters to bring their flags and "Trump gear."
"The Media has painted their own narrative about the Trump hat that was placed on the Selena Statue. Now it's our turn to come out and paint our own narrative, which the media has it wrong," the post states.
As of Wednesday, 134 people were planning to attend the Facebook event. Another 354 were interested in going.
