Republican Beth Van Duyne, Democrat Candace Valenzuela will get bulk of national campaign dollars
With at least five North Texas seats that have been deemed competitive, national Republicans are allocating their resources to keep North Texas Congressional District 24 under GOP control.
All other GOP congressional candidates appear to be on their own.
The District 24 seat is held by retiring Coppell Republican Kenny Marchant, and features a contest between Republican and former Irving mayor Beth Van Duyne and Democrat and former Carrollton-Farmers Branch school district trustee Candace Valenzuela.
District 24 is the top priority for Republicans and Democrats and will be one of the most expensive and most watched races in the country. The area between Dallas and Fort Worth, has been trending Democratic for several years. Novembers election will determine if demographic shifts and other factors have cost Republicans another North Texas seat in Congress.
