Missing Texas Senators?

"Lead, follow, or get out of the way" is great advice for any wanna-be leader, especially those we worked so hard to elect!

When it comes to immigration reform, Senators Cornyn and Cruz should be involved! Texas shares a 1,200 mile border with Mexico and is home to at least 2 million illegal immigrants. Yet, both Senators Cornyn and Cruz are AWOL. This is unacceptable! Our Texas Senators should be leading just as Senator Marco Rubio from Florida is doing. Senator Rubio's election in Florida was a road map for Ted Cruz in Texas.

Senator Cruz would do well to follow Rubio’s lead on immigration. Sen. Rubio stepped to the plate and is taking the heat! He is working with seven other Senators, both Rs and Ds, to offer their vision of immigration reform and engage in a meaningful debate about what should be done to fix our immigration system. While Senators Cornyn and Cruz are sitting on the sidelines, Senator Rubio has taken to airwaves of talk radio (with Rush Limbaugh, no less) and cable news to present his view of immigration reform and encourage conservatives to support a solution to fix our broken system. Rubio is proving he has the courage and conviction to support a solution to our immigration dilemma.

Anyone that calls Rubio's proposal "amnesty" is completely ignoring the penalties, taxes, and criminal background checks the applicants must complete before they can even be considered for legal status. Neither Cornyn nor Cruz have bothered to point out that the “pathway to citizenship” being discussed will take 15 to 18 years!

If our Senators do not like what is being proposed, they should come forward with a Texas proposal. Texas Republicans have already drafted it! Read your own platform, Senators!
